MhtRipper Updated!

MhtRipper has become a really popular download recently. I guess as customers 8x implementation matures they are looking for alternative options in deploying the dashboards. Thanks to several users feedback I’ve been updating the ripper code. The last update is now available for download.

Use MhtRipper to Extract Dashboard Components from MHT Files

If you use Narrowcast to produce any of your dashboards you probably know that the output is in an IE specific format known as MHT (Mime HTML). The problem with this is that the dashboards only work with internet explorer and if you want to deploy it via a portal or do something creative with the components you really cant unless you have zero firefox users. Yes, Virginia, Narrowcast Segmentation Does Work

10 Strategies to Improve your Flash Dashboard’s Performance

Flash is all the rage in the microstrategy community these days.  It’s a far better way to visualize multiple datasets compared to the old static pdf/html report services documents.  MicroStrategy flash dashboards have allowed users to pivot, filter,and drill on many metrics simultaneously in the same view.  Coupled with this enhanced level of interactivity are really clean and pretty visualizations.  All of this is quite compelling and validated by the general adoption of flash/flex in BI.  Unfortunately, there is a trend out there that’s pushing the dashboard beyond its original definition and intended capabilities.  Instead of simply viewing high level aggregated results, users are demanding detailed tabular data in the same space.
